I am pleased to announce that the 2018 session of the Young Leaders Program—our first year—was a complete and total success, by any yardstick.
We had over 30 students who each reported that they had a great experience. Our staff of almost 20 people performed double- and triple-duty, each taking on roles and responsibilities at a moment’s notice, and each working diligently the entire week to ensure the program’s success. The program ran without a single negative incident, problem, injury, illness, or complaint. Everyone had a great time, learned a lot, and left exhausted and fulfilled.
Additionally, we met each of our key goals, which were (1) to provide program participants, with an amazing experience, (2) partnership development and (3) the acquisition of media for promotional materials. All of these goals were met and exceeded. Key relationships with Willamette University, Marion County Sherriff, the Oregon Legislative Assembly, were strengthened and enhanced.
Finally, the program ended in the black, and we were able to cover all expenses and carry enough forward to cover the deposit and some expenses for next year. Perhaps the most important measure of success, however, was the number of re-applications we had. Over half of the students re-registered for 2019! That most certainly speaks volumes as to the success of the program.
On behalf of the Young Leaders Corporation, I extend my thanks to the staff and supporters of the Program. This year was amazing, and it was all thanks to you!
